In a landmark event, Rizwan Anwar, Special Representative to the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, delivered a keynote address at Oxford University, focusing on the vital role of youth engagement in social transformation and sustainable development. The event showcased the talents and vision of Pakistan’s youth on an esteemed international platform.
Rizwan Anwar emphasized the Pakistani government’s commitment to empowering young people as key agents of progress. He outlined the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, which aims to equip youth with essential tools and resources to address critical issues such as climate change, education reform, and economic sustainability. His message resonated with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), highlighting a shared vision for a brighter future.
Following Anwar, Ms. Maha Jamil, also a Special Representative, discussed the importance of providing equal opportunities for women in development. She stressed the government’s active role in ensuring young women access leadership and innovation opportunities, declaring, “Women are central to sustainable development, and we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment.”
The event drew a diverse Pakistani delegation, including youth leaders and representatives from the Pakistan High Commission in London, and attracted numerous Pakistani students eager to engage in discussions about driving sustainable initiatives in their communities.
Under the guidance of Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme remains focused on aligning its initiatives with the SDGs. The programme is dedicated to equipping young Pakistanis with the skills and vision necessary for meaningful and lasting change.
Concluding the session,Rizwan Anwar said, “Pakistan’s youth are ready to lead on global challenges. By engaging them in key sectors, we are investing in a future where young leaders drive transformation both in Pakistan and internationally.” The event underscores Pakistan’s commitment to youth engagement and positions its young leaders as vital contributors to sustainable development and social innovation on the global stage.
