Meezan Bank, Pakistan’s leading Islamic bank and one of the largest banks in the country has recently been recognized by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, with the ‘Outstanding GTFP Issuing Bank in Sustainable Trade’ award at the 9th Global Trade Partner Meeting (GTPM) held in Lisbon, Portugal. The award was received by Meezan Bank’s Financial Institutions team at the conference, acknowledging the Bank’s strong commitment to advancing sustainable trade finance and promoting ethical financial practices.
The award is conferred under IFC’s Global Trade Finance Program (GTFP), a major global initiative that supports cross-border trade in emerging markets. As IFC’s flagship trade finance program, GTFP enables banks in developing countries to facilitate international trade by providing guarantees and connecting them with global banking networks.
Meezan Bank has been recognized as a top-performing partner bank for its excellence in trade finance, its active engagement with IFC, and its leadership in financing environmentally sustainable economic activity. The recognition reflects the Bank’s growing role in supporting responsible trade and advancing sustainable finance in Pakistan.
This recognition places Meezan Bank alongside leading global financial institutions, reflects growing international confidence in Pakistan’s banking sector, and strengthens both the Bank’s global credibility and Pakistan’s position in responsible and sustainable finance.
