Counterfeit company sold substandard products by registering a fake logo of the Turkish multinational company OPAS
FIA has stepped into action after the facts have come to light; counterfeit products are rapidly disappearing from the market.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched a crackdown on a Lahore-based fake company, Blue Tech, over serious allegations of forgery, fraud, and blackmailing.
According to details, the Lahore-based counterfeit company, Blue Tech, allegedly registered the logo of Turkey’s well-known multinational brand “OPAS” and declared itself the ‘authorized’ representative of the Turkish multinational company OPAS. However, A.T. Electricals & Trading is the only real and authentic distributor of OPAS in Pakistan.
The fraudulent company allegedly began blackmailing and demanding money from the original A.T. Electricals & Trading, which is the officially authorized to sell OPAS products in Pakistan.
In this regard, the fraudulent company also filed a complaint with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against A.T. Electricals, the real distributor of the Turkish multinational company OPAS, following which an FIA team raided the office of A.T. Electricals in Karachi.
However, Tanzeem Taj, the owner of A.T. Electricals, produced all the legal documents, registration details and power of attorney before the FIA team, following which A.T. Electricals was cleared.
On the other hand, the Turkish multinational company OPAS has also come out in favor of its legitimate distributor, A.T. Electricals. In its official statement, OPAS declared A.T. Electricals as its sole authorized representative since 2016.
According to OPAS, its brand identity was fraudulently used. The fake company allegedly imported low-quality Chinese products under the guise of its fake logo, manufactured counterfeit cam switches locally, illegally used OPAS branding and packaging, and damaged the company’s reputation by selling substandard products under the OPAS name.
OPAS is currently working with IPO Pakistan, the FIA, Sindh Police, and other relevant agencies to counter misinformation spread by the counterfeiting company, Blue Tech, and to protect its intellectual property rights. The company has also sent complaints to the Turkish Consulate in Karachi and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), demanding action against the counterfeiters.
According to OPAS, all allegations circulating on electronic and social media claiming copyright infringement or corruption against A.T. Electricals & Trading are completely baseless, misleading, and contrary to the facts.
The Turkish company has clarified that the fraudulent company, Blue Tech, attempted to harm its brand through fake registrations. It has no business relationship with OPAS and was never authorized to use the OPAS trademark in any form.
After these facts came to light, all concerned officials swung into action. The alleged counterfeit OPAS products are rapidly disappearing from the market, while the relevant officials continue further investigations. Turkish company, OPAS has urged the authorities to take action against Imran Sohail, the owner of fraudulent Blue Tech company.
