Governor House Sindh: United Bank Limited (UBL) Rural Bank and Universal Agri Tractor Company (UATC), part of the G.M. Group, have entered into a strategic alliance aimed at accelerating farm mechanization, expanding access to agricultural financing and empowering Pakistan’s farming community.
The agreement was formally signed at Governor House Sindh on October 5, 2026, in the presence of Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi, Governor of Sindh, alongside senior government officials, business leaders, senior executives and industry stakeholders.
Representing UBL Rural Bank at the ceremony was Mr. Abdul Sattar Narejo, Head Rural Bank, while Mr. Zain Wahab, Managing Partner of UATC, and Mr. Wahab GM, Owner of UATC, represented Universal Agri Tractor Company.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi emphasized the importance of initiatives that support the growth and development of the agricultural sector. He highlighted that efforts focused on improving access to agricultural financing and modern machinery are aligned with the broader government initiatives aimed at promoting agriculture, strengthening rural communities and supporting the country’s farming sector.
Under the partnership, UBL Rural Bank will provide collateral-backed tractor financing to eligible farmers, agricultural entrepreneurs and rural customers. As part of the alliance, UATC will provide an upfront markup subsidy of PKR 100,000 on each financed tractor, directly reducing the financing burden on customers and supporting affordable and sustainable repayment.
During the ceremony, senior representatives highlighted that the partnership brings together UBL Rural Bank’s expertise in agricultural financing with UATC’s capabilities in tractor manufacturing, creating a strong platform to support Pakistan’s farmers and strengthen the country’s agricultural value chain.
Given the vital role of agriculture as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s economy, initiatives that broaden access to modern agricultural machinery and responsible financing can play an important role in enhancing farm productivity, sustaining rural livelihoods and contributing to national food security.
