Jhpiego, in collaboration with Gavi, hosted a two-day technical dissemination event in Islamabad to present key findings from the Fragility, Emergency, and Displaced Population (FED) Project. The event featured a series of expert presentations, discussions, and community insights aimed at enhancing health service delivery in fragile and emergency settings. The event began on December 19th with opening remarks from Dr. Aminah Khan, Country Director of Jhpiego, followed by a overview of the FED Project by Dr. Zahida Parveen Jamali, Provincial Project Coordinator at Jhpiego. The session continued with technical remarks from Dr. Zafar Iqbal Channa, Director Technical at the Federal Directorate of Immunization, and provincial remarks from Dr. Muhammad Naeem Rajput, Project Director of EPI – Sindh. Special remarks were shared by honorable Chief Guest, Dr. Shabana Saleem, Director General of Health at MoNHSR&C, followed by remarks from Mr. Fayaz Hussain Rahoojo, Additional Secretary of the Environment, Climate Change, and Coastal Development Department. Dr. Rashid Zar, Project Lead FED, Jhpiego, then went on to share FED Project Interventions and Lessons Learned, which was followed by a comprehensive presentation on Data-driven Insights from the Field by Syed Muhammad Akbar Gardezi, MIS Manager, Jhpiego. An impactful documentary was then played, showcasing the work and stories of the project. Remarks on the project’s interventions were then shared by the ADHOs from Larkana and Dadu, followed by a powerful note from Farzana Mirani, AC, Larkana on Community Empowerment: Self-Seeking Health Behavior. The day closed with voices from the community through success stories by Community Based Organizations. The event was also attended by key partners from CDC, WHO, UNICEF and UNFPA. The second day, December 20th, began with distinguished remarks by Dr. Muhammad Naeem Rajput Project Director, EPI – Sindh, followed by a recap of Day One and a discussion of the way forward for the project by Dr. Rashid Zar. Mr. Fayaz Hussain Rahoojo provided insights on the effects of climate change on public health. Dr. Fahad Abbasi, Project Lead at Jhpiego, discussed the ongoing work between Gavi and Jhpiego. Further field impressions were shared by Mr. Anza Zafar, Assistant Director of Operations at Federal EPI. The event culminated in a panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Rashid Zar, Project Lead for FED at Jhpiego, featuring key panelists including Dr. Aminah Khan, Mr. Fayaz Hussain Rahoojo, Dr. Zafar Iqbal Channa, and Dr. Muhammad Naeem Rajput. The final session included Q&A from the audience and closing remarks from Dr. Aminah Khan. This successful dissemination event highlighted the importance of continued collaboration among stakeholders, data-driven decision-making, and the need for sustainable health interventions to address the unique challenges of displaced and vulnerable populations.
