Aag Lagay Basti Mein (“Fire in the Township”) is a 2026 Urdu-language Pakistani film blending crime and comedy, helmed and penned by Bilal Atif Khan. It follows a married couple facing hardship who end up entangled in criminal dealings, played by Fahad Mustafa and Mahira Khan, with Jawed Sheikh and Tabish Hashmi rounding out the supporting cast.
The movie evolves around an honest person Barkat. Barkat works hard as a cleaner but barely makes ends meet, living alongside his wife Almaas. Weary of their financial struggles, Almaas fixates on the idea of relocating to Dubai as a way out. Everything shifts when the pair resort to theft, gambling that a small crime might turn their fortunes around. That first act of stealing sets off a spiral of trouble, pulling in dangerous rivals, a kidnapping plot, ransom demands, and violence. The deeper Barkat and Almaas sink into this criminal underworld, the more strain it puts on their marriage, as greed, suspicion, and the fallout from chasing an easy way out of poverty take their toll.
According to Pakistani Cinema, the film’s opening weekend brought in Rs. 16.2 crore domestically, plus Rs. 11 crore from overseas territories such as North America, the UAE, the UK, and Australia. 24 News HD subsequently put the worldwide total above Rs. 42 crore, with over Rs. 26 crore coming from Pakistan and Rs. 16 crore from international markets. By April 17, 2026, Pakistani Cinema updated the worldwide gross to Rs. 86 crore — Rs. 54.5 crore domestic and Rs. 31.5 crore overseas.
That report also noted the film had surpassed all prior ARY Films releases globally and ranked as the second-highest-grossing Pakistani film ever, before adjusting for inflation.
