A training workshop for journalists was held at a local hotel in Lahore, hosted by the Punjab Union of Journalists in collaboration with the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ). The workshop featured participation from PFUJ Secretary General Rana Muhammad Azeem, Vice President and Instructor Shehar Bano, Information Secretary Ihtisham Haq, Women’s Movement Coordinator Ruba Arooj, Lahore Press Club Senior Vice President Shiraz Hasnat, PUJ Secretary Shahid Chaudhry, and Project Focal Person Farooq Johri. The workshop provided insights into the challenges faced by journalists and their legal rights. A significant number of working journalists, including women, participated and shared their concerns. Instructors shed light on various national and international laws to address these issues, emphasizing the importance of raising voices against rights violations and seeking legal remedies through the courts. Rana Muhammad Azeem stated that PFUJ and IFJ are actively working to resolve the issues faced by journalists in Pakistan, and a petition is currently under consideration in the Islamabad High Court. He assured that PFUJ will continue its struggle for journalists’ rights and provide all necessary legal assistance. At the conclusion, Rana Muhammad Azeem and Shiraz Hasnat distributed certificates to the participants.
