After six long years, the Beaconhouse Jubilee Campus Model United Nations (MUN) is back and brimming with enthusiasm! JCMUN VI, which took place recently, brought together young diplomats ready to step into the shoes of global leaders and engage in dynamic debates and negotiations on critical global issues
With delegates coming from all over Karachi, this year’s MUN will feature six engaging committees, each presenting unique opportunities for delegates to showcase their skills in diplomacy and problem-solving. These committees include the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), the Human Rights Council (HRC), the Political and Nuclear Affairs (PNA), the Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Committee (SOCHUM), the Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL), and the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC).
Delegates tackled pressing global issues such as international peace and security, human rights violations, disarmament, and climate change. This MUN served as an extraordinary platform for young minds to develop their public speaking, negotiation, and leadership abilities while gaining a deeper understanding of international relations.
The grand opening ceremony featured an inspiring keynote address by the esteemed Patron-In-Chief, Ms. Tabinda Raza. Highlighting the significance of MUN, Ms. Raza emphasized: “Model United Nations conferences provide a unique opportunity for young minds to engage with global issues, develop critical thinking, and hone their diplomatic skills. As future leaders, it is essential for them to understand the complexities of international relations, the importance of cooperation, and the need for effective communication. Through MUN, we empower our youth to become active global citizens, equipped to address the challenges of tomorrow.”
Ms. Raza further added: “As we gather here today, I urge you all to embrace the spirit of diplomacy, to listen to diverse perspectives, and to collaborate in finding innovative solutions to global problems. Remember, the future of our world depends on your ability to navigate complex issues, build bridges, and lead with compassion and wisdom.”
The beacon of support for this year’s event has been Ms. Humera Khalid, the HeadMistress of Beaconhouse Jubilee Campus. Her unwavering dedication and enthusiasm have played a pivotal role in ensuring the event’s success.
With her leadership, Ms. Khalid has not only offered immense support to the delegates but has also personally inspired and encouraged the team, emphasizing the importance of passion and commitment in international diplomacy.
As the Secretary-General and the President prepare to open the floor for the highly anticipated debates, they will undoubtedly carry forward a vision for excellence.
