The Pakistan Dairy Association (PDA) lauded the efforts of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) under the Safe Milk Campaign to ensure safe, nutritious, and hygienic milk for the citizens of Punjab. PDA CEO Dr. Shehzad Amin appreciated the visionary leadership of Muhammad Asim Javaid, Director PFA, and Honorable Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, as well as their strong resolve and initiatives in providing critical momentum to milk safety, dairy formalization, and public health reforms across the province. The Safe Milk Campaign is a bold and commendable initiative that reflects PFA’s clear resolve, backed by the Government of Punjab, to protect public health and strengthen food safety systems, Dr. Amin said. He added that the Punjab Food Authority’s vision to provide safe and nutritious milk to every household in Punjab is not only timely but essential for safeguarding the health of future generations. According to details, PFA conducted a province-wide crackdown against milk adulteration under the Safe Milk Campaign 2025 to ensure consumer safety. These efforts included testing over 70,000 litres of milk entering Lahore, leading to the disposal of 8,000 litres found adulterated. In Muzaffargarh, inspections resulted in the removal of over 2,000 litres of substandard milk, while in Rawalpindi, 3,500 litres of unsafe milk were eliminated during checkpoint operations. Additionally, a large-scale campaign in Lahore led to the inspection of 60 vehicles and the destruction of 35,000 litres of adulterated milk. Collectively, these measures underscore PFA’s steadfast commitment to milk safety, protecting public health, reducing malnutrition, and laying the foundation for a healthier and stronger future generation in Punjab and beyond. PDA also appreciated the Government of Punjab for expanding the Chief Minister School Nutrition Program to 11 districts, calling it a landmark intervention for addressing child malnutrition and improving learning outcomes. Providing safe and nutritious milk to schoolchildren is a transformative step that will directly strengthen physical growth, cognitive development, and long-term national productivity. “Such initiatives reflect the Chief Minister Punjab’s deep commitment to investing in the health of our children and securing Pakistan’s future,” said Dr. Amin. PFA’s enforcement efforts directly contribute to reducing malnutrition, improving public health outcomes, and strengthening human capital, which are essential for Pakistan’s long-term socio-economic progress. Reaffirming PDA’s commitment, the CEO stated that the Association’s core vision is to deliver safe, nutritious, and affordable milk to families across Pakistan. PDA strongly believes that formalizing the dairy sector, strengthening regulatory enforcement, and supporting initiatives like PFA’s Safe Milk Campaign and the CM School Nutrition Program are essential steps toward achieving this goal. “Formalization is not a choice, it is a necessity. The Punjab Food Authority’s leadership is driving this change, and PDA stands shoulder to shoulder with PFA in this mission,” he concluded.
