HYDERABAD: The first day of the month July carries great significance in the history of Pakistan due to implementation of important state decisions. Chronologically on this very day the founding father Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah inaugurated the first bank named as the State Bank of Pakistan in 1948.The metropolitan capital Islamabad was given district status in 1960 while Karachi was included in Sindh province. On this day in 1970 Baluchistan was given provincial status after removal of the one unit scheme and Karachi was merged into west Pakistan in 1961. The government also started issuing the National Identity Card (NIC) numbers to its citizens and started to establish government databases in the computers and replaced the paper based Personal Identity System.
