Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited signed an agreement with SINA Health, Education & Welfare Trust to establish a Primary Healthcare Unit in GagharPhattak, Bin Qasim, Karachi

The Primary Healthcare Unit will be built at a cost of PKR 15.7 million and will provide Free of Cost primary healthcare services to the residents of nearby communities and villages

Lahore (Muhammad Yasir) Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited (EPCL) is accelerating its CSR commitments to serve its nearby communities. After an agreement signing with TCF recently to establish two new schools, EPCL is now creating footprints in the field of health with an aim to help provide quality primary healthcare service to its nearby communities. For this purpose, EPCL has joined hands with SINA Health, Education & Welfare Trust by signing an agreement to establish a primary healthcare unit in GagharPhattak, Bin Qasim, Karachi. The agreement was signed by Mr. Imran Anwer, CEO  & President – Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited and Dr. Asif Ali Imam, Chairman and Founder, SINA Health, Education & Welfare Trust.


During the year 2017, EPCL conducted several medical camps in different villages of GagharPhattak for different diseases and provided relief to community residents while examining and treating almost 5,000 patients. Considering the high influx of patients at the medical camps, a need emerged to setup a primary healthcare unit to provide relief on a continuous basis, and help improve the health conditions of the community residents. Hence, the company decided to partner with a professional primary healthcare provider with a long history of creating impact, namely SINA Health, Education & Welfare Trust to establish a primary healthcare unit where the treatment would be free of cost for the patients and EPCL will sponsor it, said Rao Mubeen Ahmed – Head of Public Affairs & CSR. He also added that, the said healthcare unit in GagharPhattak will be completely paperless and shall comprise of Qualified Doctors, Family Medicine Consultant, Ultrasound facility, Lab testing and Collection Point, Pharmacy, Electronic Medical Record System, Patient Referral System, Preventive Healthcare Programs focusing on diabetes, hypertension and other ailments found in the area. SINA will also be implementing community engagement plans through its community health workers within the area to create and improve health promotion and disease prevention amongst these communities.     

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Imran Anwar, CEO, Engro Polymer & Chemicals said: “We are fully committed to our CSR strategy and the basic facilities like education, health and safe drinking water are the prime needs of these communities.
