Ajoka to pay tribute to Madeeha Gauhar & I A Rehman

Lahore (Qasim Ali) Ajoka theatre will mark the 3rd death anniversary of its founder and theatre icon Madeeha Gauhar by holding an online memorial on Sunday 25 April The group will also remember the human rights champion and Ajoka Board member I.A. Rehman, who recently passed away. Tributes will be paid by theatre and human rights activists from Pakistan, India, US and UK through zoom link. Family and friends of Madeeha and Mr I. A. Rehman will also participate. Documentary footage on the two icons will also be screened.

The event will start at 7.30 pm and also be live-streamed on Facebook.
Ajoka’s Executive Director and Madeeha’s husband, Shahid Nadeem said that Madeeha Gauhar’s contribution to the cause of socially meaningful theatre is unparalleled and Ajoka is determined to carry on her struggle, with the same commitment and resolve. He said the sad demise of Rehman sahib was another blow to all those who want to build a progressive, democratic and tolerant society but also for Ajoka as he was not only a Board member but also a mentor and a role model. Rehman sahib warmly supported Madeeha’s commitment for the promotion of peace and human rights through arts.
