KARACHI: The Zilhaj crescent was not sighted in Pakistan on Saturday, announced Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee`s chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad.
Eidul Azha, the 10th of Zilhaj, would therefore fall on Wednesday, July 21.
Talking to media personnel at the Met Office here after chairing a meeting of the committee, Maulana Azad said no credible evidence about the sighting of the moon was received from any part of the country.
`So the Ruet-i-Hilal Committee officially announces that the month of Zilhaj will commence on Monday, July 12,` he added.
`We met all due formalities,` he said. `We contacted our regional offices and also our designated people in different towns and districts.
The Met Office here [in Karachi] provided every possible technical support.
