LAHORE: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Saturday organised an online seminar in connection with the International Drug Abuse Day to create awareness among students about issues related to drugs and strengthening action and cooperation to make society free of drug abuse. UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad presided over the seminar while Director Counseling Program Willing Ways/Founder of Wellnesshive Uzma Sadaqat, Convener Anti Drug and Tobacco Committee/ Chairperson Department of Anatomy and Histology Prof Dr Hafsa Zenab, Senior Tutor Associate Prof Dr Ali Raza Awan, Associate Senior Tutor Faiz Rasool and a large number of students joined through video-link. Addressing the participants, Dr Nasim Ahmad said the UVAS administration was trying its best to make university”s all campuses smoke- and drug-free. For the purpose, it was strengthening the anti-drug tobacco committee (ADTC), with the cooperation of students proctors. He appreciated the organisers of the seminar. Uzma Sadaqat delivered a motivational lecture to the UVAS student proctors to tackle the menace of drug abuse among the youth. She also spoke about various steps for prevention of drug abuse among the youth.
