easypaisa digital bank, Pakistan’s leading digital bank,
has entered into a strategic partnership with Transsion, one of the world’s largest
smartphone manufacturers, to make digital financial services more accessible for
millions of Pakistanis.
As part of the initiative, the easypaisa app will come pre-installed on more than five
million new smartphones across Transsion’s leading brands in Pakistan, including
Infinix, TECNO, and itel, enabling users to access digital banking and financial services
from the moment they activate their devices.
As smartphone adoption continues to rise across the country, with 3G/4G Device uptake
reaching 71.6% , both organizations aim to leverage technology to bridge gaps in
financial accessibility and drive greater participation in formal financial services. The
partnership is particularly relevant for underserved and unbanked populations, many of
whom are accessing smartphones and mobile internet for the first time.
The agreement was formally signed by Farhan Hassan, Chief Digital Officer, easypaisa
digital bank, and Michael Wang, Vice President Global Partnerships, Transsion, in the
presence of senior representatives from both organizations, in Islamabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Farhan Hassan, Chief Digital Officer, easypaisa digital bank,
said, “At easypaisa, our mission has always been to simplify access to financial services
and create opportunities for every Pakistani. This partnership with Transsion represents
a significant step forward in making digital banking available at the point where
consumers begin their digital journey. By embedding access to financial services
directly onto smartphones, we are removing barriers, expanding reach, and bringing
millions more people into the formal financial ecosystem. Together, we are helping
accelerate Pakistan’s journey towards a more inclusive and digitally empowered
economy.”
Muhammad Abdul Qadeer, Country Manager, Transsion Pakistan, said, “This
partnership reflects the power of combining technology, scale and local market
understanding to create meaningful digital experiences for consumers. With millions of
smartphones entering the hands of Pakistani consumers through our brands, integrating
access to trusted digital financial services such as easypaisa creates an opportunity to
make financial inclusion a natural part of the smartphone journey. We are proud to
collaborate with easypaisa on an initiative that can deliver meaningful impact at scale
across Pakistan.”
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to leveraging ecosystem partnerships
to address barriers to financial inclusion and accelerate digital adoption. By combining
Transsion’s extensive smartphone footprint with easypaisa’s comprehensive suite of
digital banking products and services, the initiative is expected to strengthen customer
acquisition, increase app penetration and drive greater user engagement with formal
financial services.
As Pakistan’s first digital bank, easypaisa continues to expand its ecosystem through
strategic partnerships that make financial services simpler, safer and more accessible.
The pre-installation initiative represents another milestone in easypaisa’s efforts to
reach underserved communities, empower consumers through technology and
contribute to the development of a more connected and inclusive digital economy.
With over 60 million registered users and as the country’s first digital bank to commence
commercial operations, easypaisa remains aligned with the State Bank of Pakistan’s
vision of driving inclusive economic growth and continues to expand its range of
financial products and services, catering not only to its existing users but also to millions
who remain unbanked or underbanked.
