The registration for the ‘Punjab Honahar Merit Scholarship’ program began across the province on Monday.

This initiative aims to provide scholarships to 30,000 students from 68 different disciplines each year. The scholarships will benefit students from 50 public universities, 16 medical colleges, and 131 graduate colleges.

A total of 130 billion rupees will be distributed over the next four years, providing financial support to 120,000 students during that period.

In July, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif approved the ‘Punjab Honahar Merit Scholarship’ program and directed an increase in the number of scholarships.

During a special meeting of the Higher Education Department on Saturday, the Chief Minister announced that the scholarships would cover 100% of the tuition fees for students pursuing BS degrees at public universities and eight selected private institutions.

Maryam highlighted the importance of supporting the private sector to promote higher education, particularly to provide opportunities for students from remote areas.
