THAAP announces Shahkaar Tahira Arshad Award for emerging female Artists

Lahore (Muhammad Yasir) THAAP in collaboration with Shahkaar Research Hub, is pleased to announce the institution of Shahkaar Tahira Arshad Award. This annual award is specific to young female emerging artists, who have made a significant contribution to the society despite social and cultural pressures and censorship.

 The award is named after renowned designer Tahira Arshad who fought against different forms of censorship and social sanctions during her professional career. She promoted her concept of self through self-awareness as a designer which is evident in her aesthetic work and entrepreneurial skills that led her to build Ideal Fashions, an Haute Courte house she launched in 1955, located at Dyal Singh Mansion on the Mall in Lahore with brand outlets in Lahore, Karachi, Murree, and Honk Kong.   

The selection committee consists of 5 eminent figures from relevant professions. It has been decided by the committee that the due date for submitting the nominations will be 7th January, 2021.
