MULTAN: Punjab Agriculture department has issued Kisan cards to 215,000 farmers so far while registration of fertilizer and seed dealers was continued in collaboration with HBL Konnect. According to an official handout issued here on Friday, the agriculture extension department urged farmers having Kisan card to contact HBL Konnect for availing subsidy on fertilizer and seed from registered dealers. The government was offering Rs 1000 subsidy on DAP bag, Rs 1000 on cotton seed bag, Rs 1200 on pesticide per acre while the subsidy was also being offered on other fertilizers and agriculture machinery, hand out added. The agriculture extension department said that the owners of agriculture land and the farmers of land on lease were eligible for Kisan card and urged farmers to visit agriculture office to get them registered. However, the already registered farmers can get their account opened through biometric identification from HBL Konnect branches. The farmers would have to deposit Rs 500 for opening of account which would be refunded to them later, agriculture extension department sources said.
