LAHORE: The Punjab government is going to abolish the “School Management Committee” (SMC) fund for 50,000 government schools. The School Management Committee Fund was set for the welfare of schools.

According to details, the government provides school management committee funds in government schools across Punjab, including Lahore, from which the expenses of government schools were borne. The government has abolished the funds of the School Management Committee in the new financial year 2021-22.

Under the SMC budget, schools were given a fund of Rs. 5 to 10 lac.

The officials of the School Education Department said the fund of the management committee is not being cut as the new School Council Fund is being started in place of the school Management Committee and the School Council will be given budget for the welfare of schools from the fund.
