Preserving the Identity of Gurdwaras – Field visit of Gurdwara Rohri Sahib, Eimanabad.

Lahore (Muhammad Yasir) The Institute for Art and Culture (IAC) arranged a field visit of Gurdwara Rohri Sahib, Eminabad , Gujranwala for the participants of Capacity Building Workshops for UNESCO’s project “Protection and Promotion of Cultural Heritage of Punjab through Sustainable Tourism and Economic Growth” on second day of the workshop.

Prof. Sajida Haider Vandal and Prof. Pervaiz Vandal headed the field tour with the National team. Second day’s proceeding focused on reaching the assigned field which is Gurdwara Rohri Sahib, Eminabad. The aim of the field work is visit the surrounding community in groups for interaction with the local community members, a visit to the conservation site followed by a discussion on the findings and results of various groups of their interaction with the local community members during the visit.

The Deputy Commissioner of Gujranwala District- Mr. Sohail Ashraf was invited as the chief guest of the event. Assistant Comissioner, Saddar- Ms Saariye, Assistant Comissioner of Muridke, Mr Irfan M Anwar and and Project Director of Punjab Tourism for Economic growth Project (PTEGP), Waqas Malik were invited as guests to share their thoughts about the capacity building workshops as an integrated approach towards conservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Gurdwaras in Punjab.

In the closing remarks, Mr Sohail stated “ I am extremely happy that conservation work to enhance economic development is being conducted in Eimnabad and would I definitely share a great deal of interest in developing this region for sustainable tourism.”
