Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day celebrations began from Balochistan this year, with a grand event held in Gwadar on 12 August 2025, highlighting the province’s growing importance in the country’s economic future.

Officials and participants described Gwadar as the “jewel of the Arabian Sea” and a gateway to regional trade, underlining its strategic role in connecting Pakistan with global markets through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Balochistan, home to vast natural resources including copper, gold, coal, and natural gas, was termed a “real pearl in the heart of Pakistan.” Experts noted that projects such as Reko Diq and the ongoing development of Gwadar Port have the potential to bring in foreign investment, meet domestic energy demands, and create thousands of jobs for local communities.

Speakers stressed that integrating Gwadar’s maritime strength with Balochistan’s mineral wealth could significantly boost Pakistan’s GDP and industrial base. They added that proper utilization of the province’s untapped resources would pave the way for sustainable growth and prosperity.

Launching the Independence Day festivities from Gwadar, officials said, was meant to send a strong message that Balochistan is central to Pakistan’s economic future and a vital contributor to national unity.
