Akram Ali of ProPakistani has become the first person in Pakistan to unbox the official, PTA-approved iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable iPhone, supplied by Mercantile with a one-year official Apple warranty. The unboxing comes on the phone’s global launch day, as units begin shipping.

In a video shared on Instagram, Akram Ali opens the sealed retail box, which carries Mercantile’s gold authenticity sticker with a QR code. He then unfolds the device to show its large inner display and dual rear cameras.

The iPhone Duo is Apple’s first foldable iPhone. It has a 7.6-inch inner display, the largest ever on an iPhone, and a 5.4-inch outer display for everyday use when the phone is closed. Both screens support Apple Pencil, and the inner screen has an under-display camera. Apple has used a nanotexture finish to reduce the visible crease, and the grade 5 aluminium hinge holds the two halves together.

The phone is just 5.2mm thin when open and 11.3mm when folded, and it weighs 254 grams. It runs on the A20 Pro chip paired with Apple’s C2 modem, and it is eSIM-only, so there is no physical SIM tray. Apple claims up to 44 hours of video playback on the outer display.

At the back, there are two 48MP cameras: a main camera and an ultrawide with 2x optical zoom. There is no telephoto lens. For security, Touch ID is built into the side button instead of Face ID. Users can also unlock the phone with an Apple Watch.
