NUT desk- ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University(AIOU) has signed MoU with Jiangsu University, China, and Leicester University, UK to provide scholarships to faculty members and students of Masters/Ph. D. for their professional development and joint degree programs. The signing ceremony was held here at AIOU and online. Management of Jiangsu University and Leicester University participated online in the event through video conferencing system. President Jiangsu University, Dr. Yan Xiaohong signed the agreement, and Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum signed on behalf of the Open University. The second agreement was signed by the Vice Chancellor, University of Leicester UK, Prof. Nishan Canagarajah, and the Vice Chancellor of the Open University. Two agreements were signed with the Jiangsu University of China. Under Belt and Road initiative, faculty members of Open University will be provided scholarships for PhD every year and in the second agreement, the two universities will start 4-year joint degree programs under which Pakistani students will study for two years.
